Target intelligence / Profile preview
SARS-CoV-2 is the causative agent of COVID-19 and belongs to the coronavirus family. It is an enveloped, positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus with a spherical shape and a diameter ranging from 60 to 140 nanometers. The virion surface is characterized by prominent spike (S) proteins that give it a crown-like appearance under electron microscopy. Its infection process begins when the spike protein binds ACE2 on target cells and enters by membrane fusion.
Various, including inhibition of viral RNA polymerase, protease inhibition, and neutralization of the spike protein.
