Scratch family transcriptional repressor 2 (SCRT2) is a zinc finger transcription factor that functions as a DNA-binding transcriptional repressor, particularly involved in repressing RNA polymerase II-specific transcription and binding E-box motifs[7][2][1]. It is predicted to be involved in negative regulation of extrinsic apoptotic signaling pathways and may play a role in neural development, similar to other members of the scratch family[5][2]. The human SCRT2 gene is located on chromosome 20 and is mainly expressed in the brain and other tissues[3][4]. While SCRT2’s function is characterized at the molecular level, there are currently no known drugs targeting it, no biomarker or specific safety concerns, and no strong links to major diseases based on available resources[5][7].
