Overview

SDHA pseudogene 2 (SDHAP2) is a non-coding pseudogene in the human genome, and is not known to produce a functional protein product[5][6]. It is related by sequence homology to the functional gene SDHA, which encodes a key subunit of succinate dehydrogenase complex II in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. The SDHAP2 locus does not encode an active enzyme or protein, and there is no evidence that it is expressed or has a biological function in metabolism, signaling, or disease. SDHAP2 is not considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, nor is it implicated in disease mechanisms directly. The existence of such pseudogenes is common in the genome, representing evolutionary remnants of once-functional genes[5][6]. Key points: - SDHAP2 is a pseudogene, not an active enzyme, receptor, transporter, or any druggable target[5][6]. - It does not participate in any biological pathways, is not associated with disease, and has no known therapeutic or biomarker relevance. - There is no evidence or record of drugs interacting with SDHAP2, nor any mechanisms of action related to it. If a functional or disease-related target was intended (e.g., "SDHA"—Succinate dehydrogenase complex, subunit A), please specify, as SDHA is an active protein-coding gene with roles in metabolism and known disease associations, very different from the pseudogene SDHAP2[1][2][3][4].
