Overview

SDHC pseudogene 3 (SDHCP3) is a pseudogene related to the *SDHC* gene, which encodes a subunit of succinate dehydrogenase (mitochondrial complex II). *SDHCP3* is a non-coding, non-functional segment of DNA that shares sequence similarity with the protein-coding SDHC gene, but does not produce a functional protein. While several pseudogenes for SDHC exist on different chromosomes[1][5], there is no evidence that SDHCP3 has clinical significance, biological function, or relevance as a therapeutic target. It is not associated with any diseases, biological pathways, or drug interactions and is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other canonical drug target. There are multiple SDHC-related pseudogenes, but none serve as functional targets. Only the protein-coding gene SDHC (succinate dehydrogenase complex subunit C) is relevant for mitochondrial metabolism, tumor suppression, and diseases such as paraganglioma and gastrointestinal stromal tumor[1][3][4][5][7]. SDHCP3 is distinct from the actual SDHC gene and is not therapeutically actionable. If you seek data on SDHC as a target, focus on the canonical protein-coding gene, not its pseudogenes.
