Overview

SEC62 antisense RNA 1 (SEC62-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the SEC62 gene locus[1][2]. As an antisense RNA, it regulates the expression of its sense counterpart gene, impacting cellular processes through RNA-mediated gene regulation mechanisms[1][5]. In particular, SEC62-AS1 has been identified as a downregulated lncRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where it appears to function as a tumor suppressor by binding to SEC62 mRNA and promoting its degradation, thus inhibiting the proliferation, migration, and invasion of cancer cells[3]. SEC62-AS1 is under investigation as a prognostic biomarker in HCC, but there are no reported drugs directly targeting it, nor is it classified as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[3].
