Secreted modular calcium-binding protein 2 (SMOC2) is a **matricellular protein** of the SPARC family that is secreted into the extracellular matrix and plays a prominent role in the regulation of cell–matrix interactions, modulation of cell proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, and tissue remodeling[2][3].
