Secretion associated Ras-related GTPase 1A pseudogene 1 (SAR1AP1) is a human pseudogene that is related by sequence to the SAR1A gene, which encodes a small GTPase involved in COPII-mediated vesicle trafficking from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. Unlike its functional relative SAR1A, SAR1AP1 does not code for an active protein and is transcriptionally silent or non-functional. Pseudogenes like SAR1AP1 can theoretically play regulatory roles at the RNA level in rare cases, but there is no evidence SAR1AP1 performs such a function. It is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, transporter, enzyme, or signaling molecule, and no drugs, biomarkers, or clinical associations have been reported for this pseudogene.
