Overview

SAR1AP3 (Secretion associated Ras related GTPase 1A pseudogene 3) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene in the human genome, identified and catalogued in gene databases. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences resembling protein-coding genes, but typically lack the ability to encode functional proteins because of disabling mutations or sequence changes. While some pseudogenes have regulatory roles at the RNA level in certain contexts, the available literature does not provide evidence for SAR1AP3 having any such activity. It does not function as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other conventional drug target, and has no documented role in disease or therapy[4][6][8].

Mechanism of action

None. As SAR1AP3 does not encode a functional protein, no mechanism of drug action is applicable.

03

Biological functions

Pseudogenes generally do not have classical encoded protein functions. Some pseudogenes can have regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as decoys for microRNAs or sources of small interfering RNAs, but there is no specific evidence that SAR1AP3 is functional in these contexts[6][8].
04

Disease associations

There is no documented role for SAR1AP3 in human disease. Some pseudogenes have been implicated in cancer or other pathologies through RNA-mediated mechanisms, but SAR1AP3 has no such established associations[6][8].
