Secretoglobin family 1B member 2, pseudogene (SCGB1B2P), also known as SCGB4A1P, is classified as a pseudogene and is a member of the secretoglobin gene superfamily[1][3][4]. SCGB1B2P does not encode a functional protein and has no known biological activity or therapeutic targeting potential[1][3][4][5]. The secretoglobin gene family covers a range of small, secreted proteins in mammals, but pseudogene members like SCGB1B2P are generally nonfunctional due to disabling mutations and lack significant biological functions[3]. While the SCGB family proteins in general have roles in inflammation modulation, tissue repair, and tumorigenesis, there is no evidence that SCGB1B2P retains such a function[3]. There are no known small molecule or antibody therapies targeting this pseudogene, and it is not used as a biomarker or known to cause safety issues. SCGB1B2P is included on genomic databases mainly for reference and evolutionary studies; it is not considered a pharmacologically tractable or disease-relevant target[1][3][4].
