SEELA1, also known as LDC1P or SERINC2-ELA1, is a long non-coding enhancer RNA (lnc-eRNA) that is annotated as a pseudogene in the human genome. SEELA1 is not a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter. Instead, it modulates gene expression in cis by activating the adjacent oncogene SERINC2 through direct binding to histone H4, leading to enhanced chromatin recognition and transcriptional activity. SEELA1 is upregulated in MLL-rearranged leukemia, promoting cancer progression through its regulation of sphingolipid metabolism. However, as a non-coding RNA derived from a pseudogene annotation, SEELA1/LDC1P is not a direct druggable target and does not encode a functional protein[1].
