Semaphorin 3F antisense RNA 1 (SEMA3F-AS1) is a long noncoding antisense RNA transcribed opposite the SEMA3F gene. Its primary biological role is the regulation of SEMA3F expression, influencing processes such as cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and potentially apoptosis and angiogenesis. SEMA3F-AS1 can act through chromatin remodeling and epigenetic mechanisms, such as histone modification, to modulate expression of tumor suppressors or oncogenes. Dysfunction or aberrant expression of SEMA3F-AS1 is implicated in several cancers, with altered levels serving as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers. While not a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, SEMA3F-AS1 is actively investigated as a therapeutic target and biomarker in oncology[3][4][5].
