Septin-10 (SEPTIN10)

Target
SEPTIN10
Molecular classification
Cytoskeletal protein, GTPase, Septin family
01

Overview

Septin-10 (SEPTIN10) is a member of the septin family of cytoskeletal proteins that possess GTPase activity and can form filaments and higher-order oligomeric complexes[3][4][6]. These proteins localize to the cytoplasm and nucleus, contributing to processes such as cytokinesis, cytoskeletal organization, and cell division[3][4][6]. Septins, including Septin-10, interact with cellular membranes, actin filaments, and microtubules, and their assembly is regulated by nucleotide binding, post-translational modifications, and interaction with other proteins and cytoskeletal elements[1][4]. SEPTIN10 is implicated in a range of physiological and pathological processes, including the development and function of neurons, morphogenesis, and pathological conditions like cancer, neurodevelopmental disorders, and infertility[1][2][4]. There are currently no known drugs directly targeting Septin-10, and its therapeutic targeting remains unexplored[1][4].
