Septin 14 pseudogene 2 (SEPTIN14P2) is a nonfunctional genomic DNA sequence that resembles the functional septin 14 gene but does not produce a working protein. It is an example of a pseudogene, arising from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and having lost the ability to encode a functional polypeptide due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements.
