Septin 14 pseudogene 23 (SEPTIN14P23)

Target
SEPTIN14P23
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)

Overview

Septin 14 pseudogene 23 (SEPTIN14P23) is an annotated human pseudogene, originally related to the septin 14 gene. Pseudogenes are defunct relatives of protein-coding genes and generally do not encode functional proteins. They typically arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition and accumulate mutations that prevent protein translation, although some pseudogenes may be transcribed as noncoding RNAs. In rare cases, pseudogenes can regulate their parent gene’s expression via RNA-based mechanisms, but there is no published evidence that SEPTIN14P23 is biologically active or clinically relevant. SEPTIN14P23 is therefore not a canonical drug target, disease biomarker, or subject for therapeutic intervention[2][1][3].
