Target intelligence / Profile preview
Septin 7 pseudogene 8 (SEPTIN7P8) is a human pseudogene annotated in databases such as NCBI Gene (100418735), HGNC (HGNC:38044), and Ensembl (ENSG00000229000). By definition, a pseudogene is a genomic DNA sequence resembling a gene but is generally non-functional due to mutations, truncations, or lack of regulatory elements. SEPTIN7P8 does not produce a protein or take part in cellular biochemical pathways. It derives from septin 7 but does not encode the functional cytoskeletal GTPase “Septin 7”, which is implicated in processes such as cytokinesis, cell polarity, morphogenesis, and disease (e.g., neurodegeneration, cancer). SEPTIN7P8 functions only as a non-coding DNA element and has no documented biological, therapeutic, or biomarker relevance.
