Serine and arginine rich splicing factor 10 pseudogene 2 (SRSF10P2) is a processed pseudogene located on human chromosome 20 (20p12.3). It is homologous to the functional gene SRSF10 which encodes a member of the SR protein family involved in RNA splicing, but SRSF10P2 does not encode a functional protein. SRSF10P2 has alternative names including FUSIP1P2 and SFRS13AP2. No evidence currently supports SRSF10P2 as a protein-coding gene, therapeutic target, receptor, or biomarker. Its biological role, if any, may include non-coding RNA functions such as regulation of parental gene expression through miRNA sponging or production of small regulatory RNAs, although this has not been specifically validated for SRSF10P2. Pseudogenes as a category are being studied for potential impacts on cancer and other diseases, but there are no data specifically supporting SRSF10P2 in these functions.
