Serine and arginine rich splicing factor 9 pseudogene 1 (SRSF9P1), also known as SFRS9P1, is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome. Pseudogenes are non-coding sequences that share similarity with functional genes but lack the ability to code for functional proteins, often due to mutations, insertions, or deletions that disrupt translation or expression. SRSF9P1 is homologous to the serine and arginine rich splicing factor 9 (SRSF9) gene, but there is no evidence it encodes a functional splicing factor or any protein product. Pseudogenes like SRSF9P1 do not serve as therapeutic targets, have no known biological function, and are not involved in disease mechanisms or drug interactions.
