Target intelligence / Profile preview
Serine protease 27 (PRSS27) is a secreted tryptic serine protease enzyme mainly expressed in the pancreas, encoded by the PRSS27 gene on chromosome 16 in humans[1][4][5]. It belongs to the group-1 subfamily of serine proteases and contributes to protein digestion and processing in the digestive tract. Various transcript variants are produced through alternative splicing[1]. PRSS27 has enzymatic activity characteristic of serine-type endopeptidases, and dysregulation may be associated with diseases such as necrotizing gastritis[1][4].
