Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are a class of medications that inhibit the reabsorption (reuptake) of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. This action increases the levels of these neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft, enhancing their activity and leading to improved mood regulation and pain relief. SNRIs are primarily used as antidepressants and for the treatment of anxiety disorders and chronic pain conditions.
