Target intelligence / Profile preview

Serotonin receptor 2D (5-HT₂ᴰ)

Target
5-HT₂ᴰ
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor, Type II serotonergic GPCR
01

Overview

The serotonin receptor 2D (5-HT₂ᴰ) is a putative member of the serotonin receptor family. It is a G protein-coupled receptor that signals primarily via the Gq/11-PLC-Ca²⁺ pathway. While a distinct human gene or protein for '5-HT2D' is not well-established and most research focuses on 5-HT2A, 5-HT2B, and 5-HT2C, it is inferred to be involved in neurotransmitter release, mood regulation, and cardiovascular function based on the roles of related subtypes.
