The serotonin receptor subtype 1D (5-HT1D), encoded by the HTR1D gene, is a G protein-coupled receptor that belongs to the 5-HT₁ family of serotonin receptors. It is primarily expressed in the central nervous system and mediates various physiological functions including modulation of locomotion, anxiety, and vasoconstriction. Triptans, used for acute migraine treatment, exert their effects by activating this receptor to induce cranial vasoconstriction.
