Overview

Serpin family A member 10 is a plasma glycoprotein serine protease inhibitor primarily expressed in the liver and secreted into the blood. Its canonical role is to inhibit coagulation factors Xa and XIa—key enzymes in the coagulation cascade—thereby regulating blood clot formation in a protein Z-, calcium-, and phospholipid-dependent manner. Deficiencies or genetic variants of SERPINA10 are associated with thrombotic disease. SERPINA10, like other serpins, is critically involved in maintaining the balance between coagulation and anticoagulation. While it is considered a potential target for modulation in disorders of hemostasis, no direct inhibitors or activators are currently approved for clinical use.
