SERPINI2
Molecular classification
Serine protease inhibitor, Enzyme inhibitor, Serpin superfamily, Other

Overview

Serpin family I member 2 is a protein encoded by the SERPINI2 gene and belongs to the serpin superfamily of serine protease inhibitors. Serpins regulate various physiological processes such as coagulation, fibrinolysis, inflammation, and cell development. SERPINI2 is expressed in multiple tissues and its downregulation may be implicated in pancreatic cancer. Like other serpins, it regulates protease pathways to maintain homeostasis. Serpin deficiencies are associated with disease, but SERPINI2 itself is most closely linked to roles in developmental, inflammatory, and cancer-related processes, with ongoing research into its precise physiological and pathological roles[1][2][3].
