SERPINE1 mRNA binding protein 1 pseudogene 2 (SERBP1P2) is a human pseudogene with sequence similarity to the functional SERBP1 gene, which encodes a PAI-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor 1) mRNA-binding protein involved in the regulation of fibrinolysis and cancer progression. However, SERBP1P2 itself is not known to encode a functional protein, nor is it established as a direct contributor to disease or as a therapeutic target. Like other pseudogenes, it may have regulatory roles, such as acting as a decoy for microRNAs or RNA-binding proteins, but to date, no specific function or clinical relevance has been demonstrated for SERBP1P2 in the literature.
