Overview

SERPINE1 mRNA binding protein 1 pseudogene 4 (SERBP1P4) is annotated as a processed pseudogene located on chromosome Xq21.31 in the human genome[3][7]. Processed pseudogenes derive from transcripts of functional genes but lack coding potential due to sequence mutations or the absence of regulatory or coding features. SERBP1P4 is homologous to the functional gene SERBP1 (SERPINE1 mRNA binding protein 1), a known mRNA-binding protein involved in several post-transcriptional regulatory processes, but there is no evidence that SERBP1P4 codes for a functional protein or has an established role in biology or disease[1][3]. As such, SERBP1P4 is not considered a therapeutic or diagnostic target.
