Overview

SERTAD3 antisense RNA 1 (SERTAD3-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified as an antisense transcript with respect to the SERTAD3 gene[7][5][1]. Antisense RNAs are a subclass of lncRNAs that are transcribed from the opposite strand of a protein-coding gene and can regulate the expression or processing of that gene[9]. There is currently no evidence that SERTAD3-AS1 encodes a protein or is directly involved in disease or drug targeting. Its main biological function, like many antisense lncRNAs, is presumed to be the regulation of its sense counterpart (here, likely SERTAD3) through various possible mechanisms such as RNA interference, transcriptional interference, or epigenetic modulation[4][9]. No established therapeutic, diagnostic, or biomarker roles have yet been assigned to SERTAD3-AS1.
