Target intelligence / Profile preview
Pentraxin 2 (PTX2), also known as Serum Amyloid P Component (SAP), is a secreted serum glycoprotein and a member of the pentraxin superfamily. It is universally present as a non-fibrillar component in amyloid deposits and regulates the solubility of amyloid fibrils and protects them from degradation. It functions as an opsonin interacting with Fc gamma receptors. It is a potential therapeutic target for modulating immune responses or influencing plaque stability.
