Serum response factor binding protein 1 pseudogene

Serum response factor binding protein 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000251135) is a nonfunctional DNA sequence in the human genome that closely resembles the functional SRFBP1 gene but lacks the capacity to produce a functional protein product[2][5]. Pseudogenes arise through duplication or retrotransposition events, after which mutations render them nonfunctional[2][5][8]. While some pseudogenes are transcribed at low levels and may have RNA-mediated regulatory roles, there is no evidence that this particular pseudogene is implicated in any biological process or disease, nor does it represent a viable target for therapeutic intervention[5][11].
