Overview

SET pseudogene 5 (SETP5) is a non-protein-coding genomic locus classified as a pseudogene, derived from the SET gene family. It does not encode a functional protein and does not have a defined biological function or disease association per current genomic databases[1][5]. Pseudogenes like SETP5 generally arise via duplication or retrotransposition events and accumulate disabling mutations, rendering them nonfunctional[6]. While some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles at the RNA level, no such function has been reported for SETP5.
