SH2 Domain-Containing Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase (SHP2)

Target
SHP2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase
01

Overview

SHP2 is a ubiquitously expressed cytosolic protein tyrosine phosphatase that plays a central role in cell signaling. It contains two N-terminal Src homology 2 (SH2) domains, a central catalytic phosphatase domain, and a C-terminal tail. The SH2 domains allow SHP2 to bind specifically to phosphorylated tyrosine residues on target proteins in response to various extracellular stimuli, modulating various signaling pathways involved in cell growth, differentiation, and immune responses. It is implicated in Noonan syndrome and various cancers.
