Overview

SH3 domain and tetratricopeptide repeat-containing protein 1 (SH3TC1) is a large, multi-domain human protein (UniProt Q8TE82) characterized by the presence of SH3 (SRC homology 3) domains and tetratricopeptide repeats (TPR)[1][3]. SH3 domains are small modular domains (~60 amino acids) involved in mediating protein–protein interactions by binding proline-rich motifs, facilitating the assembly of dynamic multiprotein complexes[1][2]. TPR motifs also mediate protein–protein interactions, usually involved in assembling large protein complexes. While the broader family of SH3 domain-containing proteins mediates signal transduction, cell proliferation, and other essential cellular processes, a specific biological or disease role for SH3TC1 itself remains to be elucidated, and the function of SH3TC1 is reported as unclear[7]. No approved drugs are known to interact directly with SH3TC1, and it is not currently recognized as a direct therapeutic target.
