SH3 domain-containing ring finger protein 2 (SH3RF2) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase characterized by an N-terminal RING finger domain and multiple SH3 domains. It acts as a multidomain scaffold protein, regulating cell signaling pathways such as the JNK pathway and controlling protein stability via the ubiquitin-proteasome system. SH3RF2 is involved in anti-apoptotic processes by stabilizing proteins like PAK4 through inhibition of their ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. Overexpression of SH3RF2 is associated with increased cell survival, cancer progression, and chemoresistance, making it a putative therapeutic target and a candidate biomarker in oncology and other disease contexts.
