Shieldin complex subunit 2 pseudogene 2 (SHLD2P2)

Shieldin complex subunit 2 pseudogene 2 (SHLD2P2) is a non-coding pseudogene corresponding to the parental shieldin complex subunit 2 gene (SHLD2)[1]. Unlike its parental gene, which encodes a protein involved in the DNA double-strand break repair pathway[4], SHLD2P2 does not produce a functional protein and is not considered a target for therapeutic intervention. There is currently no evidence for regulatory function, disease involvement, or drug interaction for SHLD2P2. As a class, pseudogenes may in some cases exert regulatory effects or be involved in genetic or epigenetic disease mechanisms, but no such roles have been described for SHLD2P2[1][5].
