It also encompasses ETEC colonization factors (CFs) and toxoids, such as the heat-labile enterotoxin (LT) or its non-toxic derivatives like dLT, which are critical for bacterial adherence and the induction of secretory diarrhea (Source: WHO, Diarrhoeal Disease). These proteins are fundamental to the pathogenesis of enteric diseases, which remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children in low-income countries.
