Sialyl Thomsen-nouveau Antigen (STn)

Target
STn
Molecular classification
Carbohydrate Antigen, Tumor-Associated Carbohydrate Antigen (TACA)
01

Overview

Sialyl Thomsen-nouveau Antigen (STn) is a carbohydrate antigen with the structure Neu5Ac(α2-6)GalNAc(α1-O)-Ser/Thr. It is rarely found in normal adult tissues but is abundantly expressed in more than 80% of human carcinomas, making it a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen (TACA). STn plays a role in immune evasion and promotes tumor growth. It is a target for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and other targeted therapies.
