Signal peptidase complex subunit 2 pseudogene 3 (SPCS2P3) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome, meaning it is a non-functional segment of DNA resembling the functional SPCS2 gene, but does not produce a functional protein product nor play a direct role in human physiology or disease[1][2][11][13]. SPCS2P3 is homologous to the active signal peptidase complex subunit 2 gene, but lacks coding potential and biological activity typical of therapeutic targets[1][2][13]. As a pseudogene, SPCS2P3 is not a valid drug target, and there are no known biological functions, associated diseases, interacting drugs, or clinical biomarkers[1][13]. SPCS2P3 should not be confused with the functional Signal peptidase complex subunit 2 (SPCS2), which is a component of the signal peptidase complex involved in the processing of nascent proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum[10][12].
