Signal peptidase complex subunit 2 pseudogene 4 (SPCS2P4) is a human pseudogene related to the signal peptidase complex subunit 2 (SPCS2) gene. Unlike its protein-coding homolog, SPCS2P4 does not encode a functional protein and is not associated with any known biological processes or diseases. The parental gene SPCS2 encodes a component of the signal peptidase complex involved in cotranslational processing of nascent proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. However, SPCS2P4 itself is classified as a pseudogene and has no therapeutic relevance[5][7][13].
