Signal recognition particle 14 pseudogene 2 (SRP14P2) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome located on chromosome 11. It resembles the signal recognition particle 14 gene (SRP14), which encodes a protein involved in co-translational protein targeting to membranes, but SRP14P2 itself does not encode a functional product. Pseudogenes are sequences resulting from gene duplication or retrotransposition that have lost their protein-coding capacity through mutations. SRP14P2 is recognized in gene nomenclature databases (HGNC:53768) as a human pseudogene, and its lack of protein-coding capability means it is not a functional receptor, enzyme, transporter, or recognized therapeutic target in drug discovery.
