The functional SRP19 protein, by contrast, plays an essential structural role in the assembly and activity of the SRP complex, which targets secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic cells[4][5][6]. However, this pseudogene does not contribute to those biological processes and has no established role in disease or therapy.
