Signal sequence receptor subunit 4 pseudogene 1 (SSR4P1) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 21, also known by several aliases including PRED90, MGC10960, and PRED57[1][5][6][7]. As a pseudogene, SSR4P1 is a non-protein-coding sequence that closely resembles the functional gene SSR4, but does not produce a functional product and is not known to have direct biological functions, disease associations, or drug interactions[1][5][7]. SSR4P1 should not be confused with the protein-coding, functional gene SSR4 (signal sequence receptor subunit 4), which is involved in protein translocation in the endoplasmic reticulum[3][8]. There is no evidence suggesting SSR4P1 is a therapeutic target, biomarker, or implicated in disease, and there are no drugs or mechanisms of action linked to it[1][5][7].
