Signaling Lymphocytic Activation Molecule (SLAM) is a glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed on T cells, B cells, and thymocytes. Engagement of SLAM enhances antigen-specific proliferation and cytokine production by CD4+ T cells, particularly IFN-γ, independent of CD28 co-stimulation. This suggests a novel pathway for potentiating T-cell expansion and promoting a Th0/Th1 cytokine profile.
