Overview

Signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM, CD150) is an immunoglobulin superfamily cell surface receptor expressed primarily on activated lymphocytes and antigen-presenting cells. It regulates immune responses and serves as a cellular entry point for the measles virus in immune cells. Nectin cell adhesion molecule 4 (Nectin-4, PVRL4) is a type I transmembrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, predominantly expressed in embryonic and placental tissues, and at low levels in several adult epithelial tissues. It plays key roles in cell-cell adhesion, organization of adherens and tight junctions, regulation of angiogenesis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and tumor progression. Nectin-4 also acts as a high-affinity epithelial cell receptor for measles virus and is upregulated in various cancers, making it an important target for antibody-drug conjugate therapy (such as enfortumab vedotin).
