Overview

Silica spicules are microscopic, needle-like structures composed primarily of amorphous silica, derived from the skeletons of siliceous sponges. They are used in mechanical exfoliation as micro-abrasives to remove dead skin cells. While not a therapeutic target in the traditional sense, their physical properties allow for enhanced cell turnover and improved skin texture.
