Overview

SIMC1 pseudogene 1 (SIMC1P1) is a human pseudogene related in sequence to the SUMO Interacting Motifs Containing 1 (SIMC1) gene. Pseudogenes are stretches of DNA that share similarity with known protein-coding genes but generally lack the ability to code for functional proteins due to disabling mutations and loss of regulatory elements. Most pseudogenes, including SIMC1P1, are considered nonfunctional genomic elements, although some pseudogenes elsewhere in the genome are reported to play regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs or miRNA sponges. However, there is no direct evidence that SIMC1P1 itself carries out such regulatory or pathological roles, nor is it a drug target or disease biomarker[5][2][3][9]. In summary, SIMC1P1 is not a recognized therapeutic target and should not be considered as such in structured molecular target databases. It is best classified simply as a pseudogene, with no established biological, clinical, or pharmacological significance based on current data.

02

Mechanism of action

None; no drugs target pseudogenes directly

03

Biological functions

None conclusively demonstrated for SIMC1P1 itself; general pseudogene RNA may act as miRNA decoys or regulatory RNAs, but no specific function is attributed to SIMC1P1
04

Disease associations

None established for SIMC1P1. Association with disease is not reported in the literature or curated databases
05

Safety considerations

None known or reported; not therapeutically targeted
06

Interacting drugs

None; no drugs are known to directly interact with pseudogenes, including SIMC1P1
07

Biomarkers

None; SIMC1P1 does not have an established role as a biomarker
