The sirtuin pathway refers to a family of NAD+-dependent enzymes (sirtuins, SIRT1–SIRT7 in mammals) that regulate a wide range of cellular processes through deacetylation and ADP-ribosylation of target proteins. Sirtuins are highly conserved across species and play critical roles in metabolism, aging, stress resistance, DNA repair, apoptosis, inflammation, mitochondrial function, and circadian regulation.
Activation enhances DNA repair, promotes mitochondrial biogenesis, reduces oxidative damage and inflammation, and modulates apoptosis.
