SKAP1 antisense RNA 2 (SKAP1-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA gene found in humans. It is also known as BTR and has been referenced in the context of the BT474 breast cancer cell line. SKAP1-AS2 does not encode a classical receptor, enzyme, transporter, or signaling protein, and there is no evidence that it is a direct therapeutic target or the basis for any pharmacological intervention. The gene is listed in major databases (HGNC:55570, NCBI Gene:105371807, Ensembl:ENSG00000235300), but functional details, disease links, or drug interactions remain uncharacterized. Despite the mention of “thyroid hormone receptor alpha” in some alternate designations, SKAP1-AS2 is not the same as "thyroid hormone receptor alpha" (THRA/TR-alpha), which is a nuclear receptor protein and pharmacological target. The confusion arises from overlapping historical nomenclature and gene rearrangements seen in breast cancer cell lines, but these are now considered distinct molecular entities. No evidence was found for SKAP1-AS2 being a druggable or receptor target, and it is not classified as a therapeutic target.
