Skeletal and cardiac muscle cell nuclei refer to the membrane-bound organelles within myocytes that house the genetic material and coordinate cellular activities such as protein synthesis and cell division. In skeletal muscle, these nuclei are typically peripheral and multinucleated due to the fusion of myoblasts, whereas cardiac myocytes usually contain one or two centrally located nuclei. While these organelles are essential for the physiological function and repair of muscle tissue, they do not constitute a single 'target' in the pharmacological sense. Instead, they contain thousands of potential molecular targets, including transcription factors, histones, and DNA-modifying enzymes. In clinical diagnostics, antibodies targeting components of these nuclei are often used as biomarkers for systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases, but the nuclei themselves are considered a cellular location or organelle rather than a discrete therapeutic target.
