Overview

Skin microbiota balance refers to the homeostatic state in which the diverse microbial communities (including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and mites) naturally present on the skin exist in equilibrium with each other and the human host. Maintaining this balance is essential for barrier function, immune education, protection against pathogens, and modulation of skin inflammation. Disruption, known as dysbiosis, has been associated with numerous dermatologic conditions, but "skin microbiota balance" itself is not a molecule, gene, or protein and cannot be directly targeted by drugs in the same way as classical therapeutic receptors or enzymes[1][2][3].
