SLAM family member 5-like pseudogene is a non-protein-coding genomic locus that shows sequence homology to the SLAM family member 5 gene (CD84, also known as SLAMF5), which is an immune cell surface receptor. Unlike the protein-coding SLAMF5, this pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and is classified as a genomic relic without direct biological or pharmacological relevance. Pseudogenes can sometimes exert regulatory effects on functional homologs at the RNA level, but no such function has been reported for this specific locus
