SLC20A1-DT (SLC20A1 divergent transcript) is an annotated long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene product and not a protein-coding gene or a classic drug target such as a transporter, enzyme, or receptor[1][4]. It is transcribed near the SLC20A1 locus but does not encode the sodium-phosphate transporter PiT-1 protein, which mediates cellular phosphate uptake and serves as a retrovirus receptor. There are currently no well-documented biological functions, disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker roles for SLC20A1-DT. It should not be confused with the protein-coding SLC20A1 gene, a recognized transporter and functional disease target in both phosphate metabolism and infectious diseases[3][5]. Typically, SLC20A1-DT is relevant for genomic studies rather than as a therapeutic target.
